BBC releases new footage from the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special

NEW YORK, Nov. 20 (UPI) — The BBC has released fresh footage from its upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, The Return of Doctor Mysterio.

The 3-minute clip was revealed as part of Friday’s telethon for Children in Need. It is now available online.

Penned by Steven Moffat, the full program will premiere on the BBC and BBC America this Christmas Day — Dec. 25.

“The Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, teams up with an investigative journalist, played by Charity Wakefield, and a superhero to save New York from a deadly alien threat,” a synopsis stated.

Matt Lucas will return to the series as Nardole and Justin Chatwin will join the cast in a guest starring role as Grant, the network said.

The next season of Doctor Who is scheduled to debut alongside the Doctor Who spin-off Class in the spring.
