LONDON, ENGLAND – October 8,2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Daniel Craig would rather slash is wrists than play James Bond again. That’s what the actor said in a recent interview with TimeOut London.
Craig, who will next be seen in “Spectre,” is tired of the tuxedos, exotic locations and fast cars.
There’s been a lot of chatter about what actor is next to play the next ‘007.’ In recent months Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy’s names have been bandied about.
In the interview Craig went on to say that if he were to decide to go ahead with another Bond movie that “it would only be for the money.”
“Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” Craig said. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
Craig continued, ‘Well, I was contracted to do another one. That was all set up. But at the studio there was a real keenness to get it done as soon as possible. In fact, there was a conversation at one point that went: “Let’s film two movies back to back.” I just went: “You’re out of your f____ minds.” In the nicest possible way. They’re just too big.’
Whoever picks up the Walter PPK next, Daniel Craig could care less. When he was asked who he thought would take the role after him, Craig replied, “Look, I don’t give a f—. Good luck to them,” “All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better.”
If and when Craig walks away from the role, he did say he has one piece of advice for his successor.
“Don’t be s—,” Craig said. “You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be s—.”
