WASHINGTON, April 20 (UPI) — The first trailer for Sony and MGM’s upcoming Western “The Magnificent Seven” sees Denzel Washington as the outlaw Sam Chisolm.
Both domestic and international trailers were released Wednesday, showing Chisolm rounding up a motley crew of outlaws, hired guns and odd characters to protect the town of Rose Creek.
From “Training Day” and “The Equalizer” director Antoine Fuqua, the “Magnificent Seven” will star Washington, Chris Pratt as Josh Farraday, Ethan Hawke as Goodnight Robicheaux, Vincent D’Onofrio as Jack Horne, Byung-Hun Lee as Billy Rocks, Manuel Garcia-Fulfo as Vasquez, Martin Sensmeier as Red Harvest and Peter Sarsgaard as villain Bartholomew Bogue.
Haley Bennett, Matt Bomer, Billy Slaughter and Vinnie Jones also star in the remake of 1960s version directed by John Sturges. The story is inspired by director Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 film, “Seven Samurai.”
“The Magnificent Seven” is expected to be released in theaters on Sept. 23.
