ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 28 (UPI) — Disney provided a behind-the-scenes look at its upcoming Walt Disney World attraction “Pandora: The World of Avatar.”

The video shows off the attraction based on the Academy Award-winning film Avatar, set to open in 2017, as director James Cameron, producer Jon Landau and the vice president of Walt Disney creative “imagineering” Joe Rohde discuss recreating the film’s world.

“I don’t even know if I can express how it feels to see something that I imagined in 1995 suddenly made physically real,” Cameron said.

The upcoming attraction recreates Pandora’s floating mountains, in addition to rides depicting a boat trip through the Na’vi River and a flight through the sky on the dragon-like ikran.

“You’re going to plunge. You’re going to dive. You’re going to see the world flying through it,” Cameron said of the ikran ride. “I know all the mechanics behind all the engineering and I sit down and ride it and I can’t believe it.”

The attraction is set to open next summer, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

“I didn’t think it would be possible to build the land of Pandora,” Rhode said. “This was a crazy thing to try to do.”
