LOS ANGELES, Feb. 9 (UPI) — Hugh Jackman‘s latest bout with skin cancer went viral when the star posted a photo of his bandaged nose on Instagram Monday.
“An example of what happens when you don’t wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless. PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups,” the 47-year-old “Wolverine” star wrote in the caption.
Jackman’s rep told People magazine the basal cell was removed and “the margins are clear and he’s fine.”
The actor has had four skin cancers removed on his nose and shown three of them over the last three years in his own campaign to get people to wear sunscreen.
He told his social media followers about his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, talking him into getting a checkup in 2013. “Boy, was she right!,” he wrote. “I had a basil [sic] cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked.
He also did lots of press for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014 wearing a bandage on his nose from a previous procedure.
