Jude Law’s ‘Young Pope’ series gets a U.S. premiere date

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (UPI) — HBO says it has set a U.S. premiere date for The Young Pope, starring Jude Law, James Cromwell and Diane Keaton.

“His religion is revolution. #TheYoungPope premieres January 15, 2017,” the cable network tweeted Friday.

“Lenny Belardo is no ordinary pope. He is the youngest and first American pope in history. We find him on the morning of his first day in office, preparing to enter into the power struggles inside the closed, secretive Vatican state,” teased a synopsis accompanying the series’ first trailer when it debuted on YouTube in September.

Set in papal Rome, the drama was created by Paolo Sorrentino. It started airing in Europe on Sky Atlantic in October.
