‘Kong: Skull Island’ tops North American box office with $61M

March 12 (UPI) — The creature feature “Kong: Skull Island” is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $61 million in receipts this weekend, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is “Logan” with $37.9 million, followed by “Get Out” at No. 3 with $21.1 million, “The Shack” at No. 4 with $10.1 million and “The LEGO Batman Movie” at No. 5 with $7.8 million.

Rounding out the top tier are “Before I Fall” at No. 6 with $3.1 million, “Hidden Figures” at No. 7 with $2.8 million, “John Wick: Chapter Two” at No. 8 with $2.7 million, “La La Land” at No. 9 with $1.8 million and “Fifty Shades Darker” at No. 10 with $1.6 million.
