Oct. 28 (UPI) — Lin-Manuel Miranda is executive producing a television drama based on book series “The Kingkiller Chronicle” for Showtime.
Miranda, who also will be composing the music for the show, is helping to bring the project to life with studio Lionsgate and fellow executive producer John Rogers, Deadline reported.
The best selling “Kingkiller Chronicle” trilogy from author Patrick Rothfuss, follows the wizard Kvothe who survives a tragic childhood to become a household name.
“Showtime has always championed bold storytelling,” Miranda said in a statement. “Pat Rothruss’ ‘Kingkiller’ series is some of the most exciting storytelling I have ever read. I could not be more thrilled to help bring the sights and sounds of his wondrous world of Temerant to the screen.”
“‘The Kingkiller Chronicle’ moves Showtime into a new genre in a powerful and unique way, led by the talented Lin-Manuel Miranda and John Rogers,” president of programming at Showtime Gary Levine added. “We can’t wait for this talented team to harness the magic of ‘Kingkiller’ to transport us all into an awesome new world.”
