LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) — Mandy Moore is bouncing back in the wake of her difficult divorce.
The 32-year-old actress said at the Television Critics Association tour Tuesday that she’s focused on herself and her new series, “This is Us,” following her split from singer Ryan Adams.
“[I’m doing] fantastic!” Moore said before admitting, “It’s tough. Life is not easy. I think it’s been great to be able to take all the chapters in my life and be able to pour it into a job like this because it all helps. It’s all fuel.”
“I think everything happens for a reason. I think I spent a good portion of the last years of my life really pouring all of my energy into my life and relationship,” she shared. “It’s just not a coincidence to me that [work] sort of opened back up, and I’m able to focus back on myself again.”
Moore and Adams, 41, married in 2009 after a year of dating and announced their split in January 2015. Court documents revealed the couple had separated the year prior, and the pair finalized their divorce in June.
“Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage,” the couple’s publicist said after Adams filed for divorce. “It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways.”
Moore and actor Milo Ventimiglia will play a couple expecting triplets on “This is Us.” The series co-stars Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley and Chrissy Metz and will premiere Sept. 20 on NBC.
