LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) — Mindy Kaling, creator, executive producer and star of “The Mindy Project,” has teamed up with co-producer Charlie Grandy for a new NBC pilot.

The upcoming series tells the story of two brothers — the older one who has the personality but lacks the drive and the younger one who has the looks but lacks the brains — who wind up taking in the son the older brother didn’t know he had.

Kaling, who gained fame as Kelly Kapoor on “The Office,” will produce alongside Grandy and Universal TV. Kaling and Grandy will also pen the script for the unnamed series.

Kaling is set to star in the upcoming Ocean’s Eight film with Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

“The Mindy Project” currently airs on Hulu and was recently picked up for syndication on VH1 and Freeform.
