Star Trek’s Anton Yelchin, 27, Dies In Freak Car Accident

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, Calif., June 19, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) – Actor Anton Yelchin, known for his roles in “Star Trek” and “Alpha Dog,” was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car, according to TMZ.

Yelchin’s friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 a.m. and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate.

Police investigators said the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. Investigators added the driveway was on a fairly steep incline. It’s unclear why Yelchin got out of the car.

According to his biography, he was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and began acting at the age of 9. His first major role came in 2001, starring opposite Anthony Hopkins in “Hearts in Atlantis.” The following year, he starred in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi television series, “Taken.”

In 2006 he played the title character in “Charlie Bartlett.” Most recently, he starred in “Green Room.”

Yelchin was 27 years old.
