LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 10, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards ended with a few surprises. Rachel Bloom received the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy Award in a surprise win for the TV series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”
Bloom won out over Gina Rodriguez, (“Jane the Virgin”); five-time nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”); Lily Tomlin (“Grandma”); and Jamie Lee Curtis (“Scream Queens).
Leonardo DiCaprio won the Best Actor in a Drama award for his role as Hugh Glass in “The Revenant,” and Matt Damon’s turn as the stranded astronaut in “The Martian” won the comedy acting award.
Sylvester Stallone, 69, walked away with the Best Supporting Film Actor trophy for his portrayal as boxer Rocky Balboa in “Creed.” Stallone received a standing ovation as he accepted the award.
