CHICAGO April 11, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Radio and television veteran Doug Banks has died at the age of 57.

Although the cause of death hasn’t been released yet, it is speculated his death was due to complications from diabetes.

According to The Root.com, the Philadelphia-born, Detroit-raised Banks got his start doing local radio. But because of his popularity, Banks was soon hosting his own syndicated show, “The Doug Banks Morning Show,” which he hosted along with DeDe McGuire.

In 2010, Banks’ show was relaunched on WVAZ in Chicago, and was syndicated to several different markets.

Outside of radio, Banks was active in the Chicago community and launched the Doug Banks Literacy & Scholarship Initiative in 2006.
