Wife Kim Rents Out Staples Center for Kanye West’s Birthday
LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) — Maybe your parents rented out a skating rink for your birthday as a kid, but your wife probably hasn’t rented out the Staples Center.But for Kanye West’s 38th birthday, wife Kim Kardashian West rented out the 19,000 seat Los Angeles arena. Kanye and friends played in a basketball game with an East team facing a West team. Teams were made up of friends and celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Pusha T, and Tyga. Washington Wizards star John Wall also attended the celebration, according to E! Online.
John Legend sang the national anthem, John Salley announced the game and James Harden and 2 Chainz coached the two teams, according to E Online. Kardashian West hired
the Laker Girls and had an edible Larry O’Brien trophy cake, according to the Washington Post.
Kardashian West paid $110,000 to reserve the venue and hire NBA referees and the Laker Girls, according to TMZ. Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Carmelo Anthony, Shaquille O’Neal, and Scottie Pippen all provided messages to Kanye on the jumbotron. Before tipping off the event, Kardashian West posted a photo to Instagram featuring herself and a blindfolded West riding in a car.
West’s West squad edged the East team 75-72 behind 22 points from the MVP Bieber, according to ESPN.
