MURRAY, Utah, May 30, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — One man is dead and multiple others wounded after a Thursday night drive-by shooting in Murray.

According to a statement by Murray public information spokeswoman Kristin Reardon, “At approximately 7:08 p.m. Murray Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the intersection of Fireclay Avenue and Birkhill Boulevard.

“When officers arrived, they found multiple male victims with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening,” who were taken to a local hospital “where one of them was pronounced deceased upon arrival,” Reardon said.

“Detectives are working to identify the victims and interview witnesses to determine what occurred. However, it appears to be an isolated incident between two groups. The suspects were seen leaving the area in a white, four-door, passenger car.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and the intersection will be closed for several hours as they process the scene,” Reardon said.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to please call Murray Police at 801-840-4000 and reference case MR24-16439.

The incident briefly disrupted TRAX traffic, causing the Utah Transit Authority to close the Murray North station “due to ongoing police activity.” It reopened 20 minutes later by 7:56 p.m.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes available.
