2 injured in rollover ATV accident at Vernon Reservoir

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, June 4, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have confirmed two people have been injured Sunday afternoon following a rollover ATV accident at Vernon Reservoir.

Deputy Justin Zabriskie with Tooele County Sheriff’s Office told Gephardt Daily that a couple, who were camping, were riding their ATV on a dirt road with loose gravel called Benmore Road at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Zabriskie said the man, who was driving, attempted a U-turn and for an unknown reason, the ATV rolled on top of the couple.

After the accident, the woman had a seizure, then said she couldn’t move and was having difficulty breathing. She was transported by helicopter to the University of Utah hospital in stable condition.

The man complained of pain in his shoulder. He may have broken his collarbone and was transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance.

Both the man and the woman were wearing helmets.

Zabriskie said police think the incident was an unfortunate accident and there does not appear to be any other contributing factors such as speed or intoxication.

Vernon Reservoir is nine miles south of Vernon.
