HURRICANE, Utah, April 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men are injured after the dirt bikes they were riding collided head on in Sand Hollow State Park Saturday evening.

Park officials said one man is in critical condition. The other man’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The men, who are both in their 20s, were riding down a sand dune together when they hit each other, officials said.

The riders were transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

One of the men was identified on Facebook as David Steed, according to a post from his brother Sterling.

The Sunday afternoon post said: “Here is a little update on our brother David. He was in a head-on collision on his dirt bike and another dirt bike out in Sand Hollow yesterday late afternoon (Saturday). The impact of the crash caused some trauma to the neck and brain stem and the brain began swelling. The extent of the swelling is unknown and tests are being done to determine the extent of the damage. Your prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated. David is a fighter and the rest is up to him!”

The other man has not been identified at this time.

Sand Hollow State Park is southwest of Hurricane.
