GREEN RIVER, Utah, July 2, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 23-year-old woman from Paradise died Friday night in a collision involving four cars and 10 people on State Route 6 near Green River.
The accident happened just before 9 p.m. on eastbound SR-6 near mile post 298 according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol. Officers say a Jeep Wrangler’s left rear rim and tire came off the axle and rolled into the westbound travel lanes.
A Ford F-150 pulling a boat trailer was headed west at the same time, and the driver swerved to avoid the tire and crossed the center line. The Ford hit the driver’s side door of a Honda Accord that was headed east.
The Honda was pushed off to the shoulder where it came to a rest. At the same time, a Ford Focus swerved to avoid the collision and ended up sideswiping the Ford F-150.
Cali Trunnell of Paradise, who was driving the Honda, was killed instantly.
A 14-year-old female relative sitting in the passenger seat of the Honda suffered a broken nose and bruising from the seat belt. She was taken by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
No other injuries were reported.
