SNOWVILLE, Utah, May 28, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.1 magnitude earthquake Thursday in Box Elder County’s West Desert.
The quake was recorded at 2:58 p.m., the survey said, about seven miles south-southwest of Snowville, a small town just below the Utah-Idaho border. The epicenter was reported at a depth of about two miles.
The were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
At about 10 a.m. Thursday, the University of Utah Seismograph Stations published its weekly earthquake update for the Utah region, which includes southern Idaho.
“For the period of May 14 through May 27, 126 earthquakes have been located in the Utah region.”
The magnitudes ranged from 0.1 to 3.8.
The 3.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded May 15 northwest of Montpelier, Idaho.
