PINEVIEW RESERVOIR, Utah, July 16, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Four people have been hospitalized in the wake of a Friday night boating accident on Pineview Reservoir.
Lt. Lane Findlay of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office told Gephardt Daily two men and two women were seriously injured when the speed boat they were in slammed into a rock wall along the shore near Cemetery Point.
The 44-year-old male driver suffered severe heads injuries, while a female passenger had serious leg lacerations.
Both were flown to the hospital by medical helicopter.
Another man and woman were also seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital by ground ambulance.
None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.
Investigators say the boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the rocks and that “multiple cans of beer were discovered in the boat.”
Deputies obtained a search warrant before obtaining a blood sample from the boat’s driver.They say he will likely face criminal charges.
