MAGNA, Utah, Dec. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Five people were arrested and two police officers slightly injured after a booze-soaked party spun out of control in Magna early Sunday morning.

According to Unified Police Lt. Manfred Lassig, officers were called to a home at 2993 Noble Fir Cove (7550 W) at about 2 a.m. on reports of a disturbance.

When police arrived, they found a group of adults who were extremely loud and “partying pretty heavily” inside a garage and backyard tent, Lassig told Gephardt Daily.

“They apparently thought it was their right to be disorderly and drunk,” he said.

When officers told the group to “shut it down and go inside,” a fight broke out between cops and partiers.

Police called for backup, and officers from Magna, Unified PD and West Valley City responded.

By the time cops gained the upper hand, five partiers were under arrest on a variety of possible charges, Lassig said, including assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, interfering with arrest and participating in a riot.

At least two of the revelers were treated at the scene for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Lassig said two police officers were also injured. One drove himself to a nearby hospital while the other remained at the scene nursing a hand injury.

Lassig stressed it was early in the investigation and it had yet to determined which charges the defendants would ultimately face.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
