DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah, March 30, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Wildfire firefighters are making good progress with the East Myton Complex fire Tuesday, according to tweets by Utah Fire Info.
“Great day on the #EastMyton fire today,” says a post issued at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday. “Containment now at 25%. Mop up will continue tomorrow.”
At 1:24 p.m., Utah Fire Info tweeted the fire is now 2,707 acres.
A tweet at 8:36 p.m. Monday offered the first glimpse of hope, saying that even that two fires had grown together, evacuations had been lifted.
“#EastMyton fire and #NorthRiver fire are now the #EastMytonComplex,” that tweet says. “2,200 acres, 10% contained. Evacuations lifted.”
Previously, 10 structures were threatened, as well as oil and power infrastructure.
Utah Fire Info said the East Myton fire was initially 200 acres. The second wildfire, the North River fire, was first estimated at 50 to 60 acres.
“Both fires human caused under investigation,” the Utah Fire Info initial statement said.
Gephardt Daily will have more information as details become available.
