UPDATE: Banbury Cross Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

McDonald, Thomas M._ S.O.# 345834SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – July 22, 2015 – SLCPD has arrested the lone suspect in the Banbury Cross armed robbery. Thomas McDonald, 30, was found sleeping in Pioneer Park and taken into custody at 7:25 p.m. yesterday.

McDonald entered Banbury Cross Donuts at 705 S. 700 East at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, brandished a gun and demanded money. It’s unclear whether he managed to steal any money.

Sgt. Robin Heiden, Salt Lake City Police Department, said when McDonald left the scene, he left in a gray Audi with no licence plates. He went north bound, then some witnesses saw him ditch the vehicle at about 900 E. 400 South, near the Village Inn, and he left walking west bound.
