Armed Robbery in Hurricane

hpdAt approximately 11:31 AM, Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at the Hurricane Family Pharmacy.  Employees were able to provide a suspect and vehicle description.  The suspect presented a firearm and made demands for prescription medication.  After the suspect left, a witness followed the vehicle and provided their location.

Jonathan S. Forest 37 LaVerkin, was arrested and booked on charges of Aggravated Robbery.  He was located and detained while leaving the scene of the incident in the area of approximately 870 West 400 North, without incident.   He was found in possession of the prescription medications taken from the robbery.  The weapon used was a black Airsoft gun without the red safety tip, which looked identical to a real handgun.

Officers were able to observe the suspect vehicle and made a stop on the vehicle, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

“A witness observed the suspect’s vehicle and followed that vehicle and we were able to get a real time assessment of where the vehicle was at,”  Sgt. Brandon Buell of the Hurricane Police Department told Gephardt Daily.
“Again, it comes back to the community and their willingness to provide information,” said Buell, who told Gephardt Daily that the suspect was in custody within six minutes of the call. Buell emphasized that the police department discourages citizens from insert themselves into dangerous situations during a crime, but that the willing cooperation and effort of citizens to keep an eye open is can make all of the difference in a case such as this robbery.

“It’s very fortunate that we were able to bring someone into custody and nobody got hurt,” said Buell.
