SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officers deployed a Taser on a suspect who allegedly threw a barbecue grill at a K-9 while attempting to resist arrest after a retail theft in Salt Lake City Monday evening.
Robert Larson, 39, was booked into jail for retail theft, assault on a service animal, fleeing, resisting arrest and tampering with a security device, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.
A second man, Skyler Eggleston, 26, was also booked into jail for enhanced retail theft due to prior convictions.
The incident began when two men entered the Target store at 1110 S. 300 West just after 8 p.m., the news release said.
“One served as the lookout while the other selected some merchandise and exited the store without paying,” the news release goes on. “When confronted by officers one of the suspects, Larson, fled on foot and was later caught while trying to enter a residence. The suspect threw a barbecue grill at a police K-9, however the dog was uninjured.”
A Taser was deployed and Larson fought with officers, but was taken into custody. The second suspect, Eggleston, was also apprehended and taken into custody.
