BOUNTIFUL, Utah, Aug. 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a man who allegedly lit a “large aerial firework” in a park bathroom in Bountiful earlier this month.
The incident occurred at North Canyon Park at 3900 Bountiful Blvd. on Aug. 6 at approximately 8:45 p.m., said a Facebook post from Bountiful City Police.
“We have nice people in Bountiful,” said the post. “We also have nice parks in Bountiful. They are maintained by the nice people of the Parks Department. We also have nice firefighters, South Davis Metro Fire.
“What’s unfortunate is when people light large aerial fireworks in the bathrooms of our nice parks, and the nice people there get scared thinking they are hearing gunshots (days after two shooting incidents in the country).”
The post then went on: “Then the nice firefighters have to respond and check it out, followed by the nice parks people who have to clean it up. There are much better things that these resources could be put towards. Now the nice (sometimes) police officers have to post this on social media.”
The vehicle involved was a newer silver Ford truck and appeared to have furniture in the bed, the post said. It’s not clear at this time how many people were involved with the incident; the man captured on camera was wearing a dark baseball cap, white shirt, blue shorts and dark shoes, police said.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the picture or who has information about the incident is asked to call the Bountiful City Police Department onĀ 801-298-6000 or send a Facebook message. The reference number in this case is 190002164.
