Air France Jetliner Diverted To Salt Lake City After Bomb Threat

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – November 17, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily) — An Air France jetliner en route to Paris from LAX made an emergency landing at Salt Lake International Airport Tuesday night after the airline received threats there was a bomb on board.

Christoph Paunier, a spokesperson for Air France, told Gephardt Daily that an anonymous phone caller threatened two Air France jetliners at the same time Wednesday night. The second plane was headed to Paris out of Washington, D.C. when it was diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

According to Paunier, authorities in Salt Lake City and Halifax were inspecting passengers and luggage and hoped both flights would be able to continue on their way Tuesday night.

Operations Center dispatchers at Salt Lake International told Gephardt Daily Air France Flight 65, an Airbus 8380-800, was en route to Paris out of Los Angeles it was diverted to Salt Lake around 7 p.m. The plane touched down safely around 7:15 p.m.

Bomb sniffing dogs were been called in while FBI and NTSB agents searched the aircraft for explosives, but found nothing suspicious.
