ROY, Utah, July 31, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies are on the scene of a fatal officer-involved shooting at a Roy medical clinic.

A statement issued early Wednesday morning by the Ogden Police Department said the deadly incident took place about 1:50 a.m. when officers from an OPD K-9 unit were called to assist the Roy Police Department with an “in-progress aggravated robbery” at a local medical facility.

According to the statement, police received word from a “frightened caller” barricaded inside a room at the Tanner Medical Clinic

“Upon arrival, the OPD K9 Officer coordinated with Roy PD and a decision was made to enter the business in order to protect the caller from potential violence,” the statement said. ”

The male suspect was taken to the emergency room at Davis Hospital’s Weber Campus where he was pronounced dead.

“The Weber County Attorney’s Office is conducting an investigation in keeping with Officer-Involved Shooting policy and protocols,” the statement said.

The suspect’s identity has yet to be released.
