MOAB, Utah, March 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Canyonlands National Park officials are asking for the public’s help locating a missing hiker.

A Facebook post Thursday morning said park rangers are looking for Jonathan Hogue, 33, who is a “hiker and backpacker who is known to hike long distances, including off trail and scrambling.”

Scrambling is a walk up steep terrain involving the use of one’s hands.

It’s not known where Hogue was intending to hike, the post said. Officials said anyone who was in the area of Green River Overlook at Island in the Sky between Sunday, March 10 and now who may have seen Hogue is asked to contact park officials.

Hogue is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes, and a tattoo on his bicep with the words “ninja penguin.”

Anyone who may have seen Hogue is asked to contact Canyonlands National Park Incident Command Post at 888-653-0009.
