Clearfield man booked after ‘terroristic threats’ in Southern Utah; suspect left note on social media

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Dec. 7, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Clearfield man is in custody after Washington County Sheriff officials say he threatened to shoot people at a Walmart in Southern Utah.

Milton Bowcutt, 26, has been booked into the Washington County Jail on suspicion of:

  • Unlawful possession, purchase or transport of a dangerous weapon, a class A misdemeanor
  • Threat of violence, a class B misdemeanor
  • Possession of a controlled substances — marijuana/spice, a class B misdemeanor.

Bowcutt left a Facebook post Thursday evening saying his girlfriend had left him and he had bought a gun.

“After 3 years of having the greatest person ever in my life and she has now left me won’t talk to me and I’m just totally mind f****d,” says the note, posted at about 7 p.m. Thursday.

“I have tried calling she just doesn’t seem to care about me anymore so I went in today and bought a new gun with fresh bolts this time there will be no flaws I’m sorry I ever treated you that way you was my soul mate and I definitely can’t see my future anymore with out you good by world it was nice meeting all of you.”

A Facebook post from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office shares some details of the arrest.

“On December 6, 2018 law enforcement throughout Washington County were made aware of an individual from Box Elder County who had made threats to shoot patrons at a Walmart store and commit suicide by cop,” the WCSO post says.

(Information from the WCSO identifies Bowcutt as being both from Box Elder County and from Clearfield. Clearfield is in Davis County.)

“Investigators in Northern Utah reported the suspect, identified as Milton Bowcutt, had been tracked to the Washington County area. The suspect’s vehicle was located in the Rockville area by an officer with Springdale Police. Additional officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Hurricane Police responded to assist in detaining the subject.

“The suspect was taken into custody near the town of Virgin by deputies. He is currently housed in the Washington County jail on bail of $10,000, cash only.”
