WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were transported to the hospital Sunday night after their vehicles collided at Redwood Road and 3700 South.

Lt. Shane Matheson, West Valley City Police Department, said the crash occurred just before 10 p.m., when a Toyota Camry pulled out onto busy Redwood Road and struck a northbound Dodge.

The impact caused both vehicles to spin out, with one coming to rest against the side of the A.A. Callister building.

The driver of the Camry, a 56-year-old man, was the vehicle’s only occupant. He briefly lost consciousness at one point, Matheson said, and was transported to the hospital.

A 17-year-old female passenger in the Dodge complained of leg pain. Matheson said the fire department had to cut the door of the vehicle to get the young woman out. She was transported to the hospital to be evaluated.

The 18-year-old male driver was the Dodge’s only other occupant, and he did not require medical treatment.

All three people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.

“The old A.A. Callister building had some cosmetic damage to some of the wood, but there was no structural damage,” Matheson told Gephardt Daily.

Redwood Road was closed for about an hour while the scene was cleared.

The crash was still under investigation late Sunday night.
