LAYTON, Utah, July 22, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews are battling a three-alarm fire at a Layton apartment complex Monday afternoon.

A tweet from Layton City at 3:40 p.m. said the fire is at the Layton Meadows Apartments, at 540 W. 1415 North. “Confined to 24 units on Building 586,” the tweet said.

A follow-up tweet said that 1425 North, west from Hill Field Road (400 West) is closed to traffic and drivers are being asked to find alternate routes.

South Davis Metro Fire is on the scene assisting Layton Fire Department.

Five people have minor injuries; two of those were transported to area hospitals, Layton Fire officials said.

It’s believed the fire may have been started by someone cooking, officials added.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
