WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 1, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Dammeron Valley Search & Rescue responded to a structure fire late Wednesday morning and found a house with multiple animals inside, but no people at home.

“The responding crew commenced an interior attack,” a Dammeron Valley Fire statement says.

“The primary search located multiple animals in the home, but no occupants were present. Crews attempted to resuscitate the pets, but the efforts were not successful.

“There were no other injuries as a result of the fire, and the cause is under investigation. Thank you to all of the responding agencies, which include Northwest Fire District, Diamond Valley Fire, Enterprise Fire, Pine Valley Fire, and Winchester Fire.”

DVFR “encourages homeowners to ensure adequate working smoke detectors are installed and tested regularly. Check appliances and extension cords and replace those that show signs of wear. Unplug non-essential appliances and ‘charging blocks’ (lithium-ion battery packs) when leaving home.”
