PROVO, UTAH – September 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – At least seven people were injured Friday night after a man suspected of impaired driving drove through barricades and into a pedestrian area full of Provo’s Roof-Top Concert goers.

According to a statement by the Provo Police Department, 46-year-old Orem resident, Kenneth Hafner, pulled through the barricades and into the restricted area just before 7 p.m.

A Provo police officer caught up to Hafner’s Chevy Suburban throwing open the passenger door and ordering him to stop. Instead, Hafner sped off, hitting and injuring the officer and a concert patron.

Hafner turned onto 100 West and drove four blocks north before slamming into another vehicle resulting in a nine car chain reaction.

Police say Hafner jumped from his Suburban and led police on a quick foot chase before being taken down about a block away.

Hafner was arrested and jailed while awaiting a variety charges. Police say has a warrant for his arrest out of California for an alleged parole violation.

At least seven people were injured during the incident, most of which happened as concert goers leaped from the path of Hafner’s Suburban.
