PROVO, UTAH, November 21, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) ─ A Utah mother of five who has been missing for nearly a month, is the cousin of Former NFL Quarterback and current ESPN analyst, Steve Young.
According to a statement released by the missing woman’s family on Saturday, Nicole Coletti Harris, 41, of Provo, is Steve Young’s first cousin. She was last seen in her neighborhood on October 24, 2015, and her family believes Harris disappeared under unusual circumstances.
“Steve Young, his mother Sherry Young, Nicole’s mother, siblings and the rest of her family are very concerned for her safety,” according to the statement. Family and friends are starting to think Nicole might have been abducted or have been the victim of some other kind of foul play. There’s also concern that she might have gone hiking and fell or got lost.
Several search parties have not turned up any new evidence. In the statement, Sherry Young talks about the emotions surrounding Nicole’s disappearance. “It is horrible not knowing because if one lets the mind go to possibilities, it is much worse than having closure, no matter what is found,” said Young. “No closure means you chase down someone who walks like Nikki or laughs like her. What if it goes on and on? It is torture.”
The family of Harris told officers she has been struggling with mental illness, which may have been a factor in her disappearance.
“Nicole’s disappearance has left our family feeling lost and highly concerned,” said Nicole’s sister Joy Gonzalez. “We are continuing our search for her, and we are hopeful that we will find her soon and bring her home to her children, her mother, and the rest of us, who love and care for her so much.”
The family is asking community members to distribute flyers about Harris’s disappearance to businesses, government offices, and other high-trafficked buildings. More information about Nicole is posted on the family’s website, findnicole.com.
