SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for two suspects in the aftermath of a drive-by shooting that led to a police chase and head-on collision early Thursday morning on SR201.

According to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Scott Smalley, the incident began about midnight with reports of shots fired at 700 S. 844 West.

When officers arrived they found a home and an SUV riddled with bullets.

Several minutes later members of Salt Lake City police spotted, then lost sight of the suspects’ vehicle, not far from the scene of the shooting.

The vehicle was spotted again – this time by the Salt Lake County Metro Gang Unit – near California Avenue and 900 South.

Police say the suspect vehicle sped off, turning onto SR201 where it drove without its lights while heading westbound in the eastbound lanes.

Moments later the suspect’s vehicle slammed head-on into an SUV.

Two men ran from the suspects’ car and managed to elude police.

Two women remained in the suspects’ vehicle, where they had suffered minor injuries.

Police say the female driver of the SUV received minor air-bag injuries to her face and shoulders.

All three women were taken by ambulance to local hospitals, including Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

SR 201 eastbound was closed to traffic while investigators combed the accident scene.

Police would not say if they recovered any weapons.

As of 7 a.m., the two men who ran from the suspects’ vehicle remain at large.
