SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Dec. 30, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A driver was lucky to escape serious injury early Saturday morning, when his vehicle struck a series of obstacles and then rolled over.
South Jordan Police Officer M. Adams told Gephardt Daily the white, four-door, passenger car was westbound on 11400 South shortly before 2 a.m., when it veered to the right off the roadway at 1988 West.
The car took out three trees, hit a fire hydrant, clipped a utility pole, and then rolled.
Adams said there were no skid marks, so the crash apparently was a “full force hit.”
Debris was scattered as far as 200 feet.
The male driver, who appeared to be in his early 30s, was the vehicle’s only occupant.
Adams said the man obviously was shaken up, but had no injuries. He was evaluated at the scene by medical personnel and was deemed to be OK.
It’s possible the man fell asleep at the wheel, Adams said, but the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The man was arrested at the scene. Adams did not say what charges he may be facing.
