OGDEN, Utah, June 11, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — With mother ducks’ instinctive inability to understand the literal pitfalls of drainage systems, the duckling rescue season continues.

The Ogden City Fire Department responded to a call at McKay-Dee Hospital after a concerned mama duck discovered several of her ducklings had taken an unexpected trip down a storm drain grate, the department reported.

After security called for assistance, firefighters responded and safely rescued the stranded ducklings, reuniting them with their very relieved mother.

“Whether they’re two-legged or web-footed, we’re proud to help protect even the smallest members of our community.

“Stay safe Ogden.”

In addition to mentioning the outpouring of thanks from social media commenters, it was also noted “Phenomenal mustaches on that crew.”

Three uniformed workers in caps and gloves position wooden beams along a curb in a parking lot, a duck nearby.
