WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 1, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — As mother ducks continue to traipse unaware over storm drains, it’s that time of year again as their babies fall through the grates.

West Valley City recently had its first event.

“It’s duckling season and we have one of the first rescues in the books!” West Valley City police announced in a post with photos. “These little balls of feathered fluff fell into a storm drain behind the Target store.

“Some of our Community Oriented Police unit members jumped into action along with animal services and hauled the stuck ducks to safety,” the department said of the recovery episode.

“A big thanks to the Target employees for providing a ladder and warming up the ducklings.”
