Elderly man in motorized wheelchair struck, killed in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 94-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon, and has died from his injuries.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.

First responders were called to the scene, in the intersection of Wilmington Avenue and Highland drive at 3:43 p.m. Salt Lake City Police and medical crews from the Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to the scene, SLCPD Captain Adam Archuleta confirmed to Gephardt Daily.

They found the victim in serious condition, and transported him to an area hospital, Archuleta said.

Salt Lake City Police Detective Michael Huff told Gephardt Daily on Thursday that the injured man had died. The accident reconstruction team has not yet completed a report on exactly what happened, he said.

Next of kin has not yet been located, Huff said.
