Elderly Woman Killed In Hurricane Car Crash Identified

HURRICANE, UTAH – September 25, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Hurricane police have identified a woman who died Friday morning after the car she was riding in was hit on State Street Thursday Night.

According to officers the accident happened around 8:13 p.m. Thursday night when the driver of a 2002 Buick Rendezvous that was stopped at the stop sign attempted to cross State Street and was hit by an oncoming 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche.

There were four people in the Buick, a 84 year old male driver, who did not sustain any injuries, an elderly couple in their early 80’s who were both transported in stable condition and a 79-year-old female passenger, Anna L. Beatty of Hurricane. She was transported in serious condition, but died at the hospital around 3 a.m. Friday morning.

The Chevrolet Avalanche was occupied by a 22-year-old male driver and a 15-year-old male passenger, neither of whom reported any injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing, however, the driver of the Buick was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way.

Hurricane City Police Department, LaVerkin Police Department and Hurricane Valley Fire District responded.
