LA VERKIN, Utah, April 6, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Monday morning, Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue crews worked with one of its firefighters, who is also a beekeeper, and with the County Bee Inspector to safely remove a bee hive located in the eave void of Station 43.
The hive was successfully removed and placed into a new hive box, a HVF&R statement says.
“Due to daytime activity, a number of bees are still out and have not yet returned to the hive. Because of this, the hive box remains in the area near the station and the bees are currently agitated while they regroup. The beekeeper will be returning later today to fully relocate the hive.
“In the meantime, we are asking the public to please avoid the immediate area, as the bees may still be active and defensive.”
The station to avoid is at 305 N. Main St.
“We appreciate the assistance from our personnel and the County Bee Inspector in handling this safely, and thank the public for giving the area some space until the bees are fully relocated.”
