WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Aug. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded Wednesday evening to a residential blaze in West Valley City.
A 911 call alerted crews to the fire just before 5:30 p.m., and firefighters responded to the area of 1537 W. Russett Ave. Shortly afterward, officials called for backup. A second house also became involved in the blaze.
Officials later said both residences were destroyed and five people were displaced.
One man was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was not yet known as of 10 p.m. Wednesday.
