WEBER CANYON, Utah, Sept. 13, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Emergency responders who regularly work Weber Canyon just counted the latest semi-truck rollover at a canyon trouble spot.
It was the 22nd semi rollover since 2020 “at the exact same place” on Interstate 84 westbound just prior to the power plant in the canyon, the Mountain Green Fire Protection District said on social media.
“Last month it was Parmesan cheese. The month before, beer,” the agency said, asking for a state investigation of the site. Friday morning it was packing material strewn about the freeway.
“Again, we were extremely fortunate the semi trailer was not full of hazardous materials,” said Mountain Green. Driver was uninjured. No fluids leaking.
Weber Fire District also responded to assist in clearing debris from the roadway, though the Utah Highway Patrol was left the painstaking task of getting the truck and trailer towed by heavy wreckers.
“It is our fervent hope that the Utah Department of Transportation will address this situation with available technology before the freeway is closed indefinitely by a major incident.”
