GRAND COUNTY, Utah, April 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Medical crews were called to the scene Sunday afternoon after a teenage rappeler took a significant fall.
Crews were dispatched at 1:06 p.m. to an incident on Potash Road, west of Moab. An alert device was activated “for a 17-year-old male who experienced a fall from a height,” says a social media post from Grand County EMS.
“The patient sustained injuries from the estimated 40-foot fall during a canyoneering rappelling accident. Paramedic Hanson and EMT Morris attended to the patient while Bureau of Land Management – Moab and Canyon Country and Grand County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue created shade and helped carry them out to the awaiting ambulance.
“The crew departed the scene at 1401.”
Details of the boy’s condition were not released.
