Gun discharges during altercation in Layton

LAYTON, Utah, Nov. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A teen has been treated and released from an area hospital after he was injured during an altercation in Layton.

Layton Police Sgt. Ryan King told Gephardt Daily the incident occurred at Quail Cove Apartments at 2090 N. Hillfield Road just before 1:05 a.m. Monday when a 16-year-old met up with an 18-year-old, who was allegedly going to sell him marijuana.

An unidentified juvenile then approached the other two, and assaulted the 18-year-old.

During the altercation, a gun was discharged. King said the 18-year-old was not shot, but he was injured. It’s not clear at this time specifically how he was injured. He was transported to an area hospital, treated and released.

Officials are looking for the juvenile; no description of him has been released because of his juvenile status.
