SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect after a skateboarder was severely injured in a hit-and-run accident in Salt Lake City Sunday morning.
The incident occurred in the area of 500 E. Harvard Ave. (1200 South), which is just to the west of Liberty Park, just after 7:05 a.m.
“The victim was riding a skateboard northbound on 500 East in the road,” the news release said. “A white passenger vehicle, also driving northbound, struck the victim near Harvard Avenue.”
The vehicle then fled the scene. The skateboarder was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A GoFundMe page set up by friends of the skateboarder identified him as Austin Bryson.
“We are raising money to pay for Austin’s recovery and rehabilitation following a horrible hit-and-run accident in downtown Salt Lake City on Super Bowl Sunday 2018,” the page said.
“He suffered a severely broken leg, minor injuries to his spine, and a serious scalp laceration. Austin is a crazy hard worker and works as a CNA. He’s a wonderful spirit in his family and friends life and we want to see him with a full recovery.”
As of Monday morning the page has raised $2,120 of a $12,500 goal.
