WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 28, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Lightning may make a pretty electrical show for sky watchers at night, but they mean something else entirely to firefighters like those in southern Utah.
Long hikes with heavy equipment while tracking clouds, curls or wisps of smoke.
“Our crews have been working hard as recent lightning storms sparked multiple fires across the area,” says a social media post by Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue.
“Over the past few days, firefighters have extinguished several small fires — often hiking into tough terrain and cutting down trees to prevent further fire growth.”
The agency shared some recent photos of their post-lightning adventures.
