LA VERKIN, Utah, Oct. 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A La Verkin man has died from his injuries after police found him about a quarter of the way down the hill from the La Verkin Overlook.

A request for a welfare check on the victim came in at about 8:12 p.m. Thursday, according to information released by the La Verkin Police Department. The man’s cell phone pinged and led police officials to the La Verkin Overlook, where the man’s truck was located.

Officers had searched that area for about 90 minutes before dispatch received multiple calls of yells coming from the hillside, the La Verkin Police Department statement says. The victim was located partway down the hill, about a half-mile from his truck.

Medical crews arrived and rendered aid, and a LifeFlight team made its way to the patient.

“Despite all efforts, the male succumbed to his injuries,” the LPD statement says.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
