WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, July 17, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — New information has been discovered relating to the Turkey Farm Road Fire in Washington County, and investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects believed to be responsible for the blaze.
The fire started Monday night north of St. George, about three miles west of Washington City, and investigators have determined that it was caused by fireworks.
Three teenage males believed to have been involved were seen driving a white sedan on Cottonwood Road at about 9 p.m. Monday, said a news release from Kaitlyn Webb, Statewide Prevention and Fire Communications Coordinator with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands.
A tip line has been established for the public to call with any information that might help fire investigators identify the three suspects officials believe are responsible for setting off the illegal fireworks that sparked the fire.
Anyone who recognizes the vehicle at the top of this story is urged to call the tip line at 775-355-5337.
“Investigators are actively seeking the three teenagers seen inside this vehicle on July 13,” the news release says.
The most recent update on the fire on the Utah Fire Info website says the fire was mapped at 11,993 acres and was 40% contained on Thursday. There are currently no evacuations and no structures threatened, although an outbuilding was destroyed.
According to the Utah Fire Info site, the following roads and trails are closed: Turkey Track Road, Danish Ranch Road, BLM Road 901, Winchester Trail Road, Icehouse Trail, Yellow Knolls Trail, Black Gulch Trail, Middleton Trail and Mesa Rim Trail.
